PORTIZMIR - İzmir International Contemporary Art Triennial has been organized by K2 Contemporary Art Center for three times since 2007. Expanding art’s scope of application, the fourth PORTIZMIR is offering propositions on sociological and ecological restoration.
It aims to create breathing room in nature and the city with the “constructed environment attached to nature, nature attached to constructed environment” by touching the creative potential of the city of Izmir, through international projects in various art disciplines concerned in making the process visible.
While arranging the calendar of the projects in PORTIZMIR4, the equinox and the solstices were taken into consideration to accent on the human-nature relation.
The naturally preserved 45-decare land surrounded by forest in Urla - İzmir is dedicated to PORTIZMIR4. The design of this land will determine the implementation area of the Ecological architecture and agriculture projects; additionally, various projects will be developed on the pilot area located in Izmir, as a reflection of the land in Urla. The venues and agendas of all the other projects within the conceptional frame of PORTIZMIR4 will be announced as they mature.
