SILENCE _STORM

Following the successful organization of the international contemporary art triennial “PORT IZMIR” in 2007, under the curatorship of Dr. Necmi Sönmez and with the institutional auspices of Izmir French Culture Institute and K2 Contemporary Art Center,“PORT İZMİR 2” will take place between dates 29.09.- 30.11.2010. The conceptual frame of the planned event is based on the theme “SILENCE_STORM”.

The envisaged contemporary art project aims not only on the production of an art exhibition, but also on a dialogue between contemporary art and the people in the city. The process of artist recruitment, venue selection, and the programming of the side activities reflect this objective. The profile of the project on the national and international level is being planned via the selection of the artist and project partners. Being a historic Mediterranean harbor city since ancient times, Izmir’s social structure has had an important role in the cultural exchange between countries and continents. This is the main driving force of “PORT IZMIR 2”.
